Happy New Year on February 11th...Bloco Lates are back!

This year we're taking a slightly different approach. We'll be making every session a masterclass led by current working Musicians, Dancers and Artists.

This Masterclass features Adé Egun Crispin Robinson:

Crispin "Spry" Robinson is a multi-percussionist specialising in Afrocuban sacred drum music. He is an initiated bata drummer, "omo Aña", and plays in Orisha drum ceremonies in Cuba, New York, and Europe. In 2015 he made a documentary about rumba music in Cuba with Gilles Peterson and Havana Cultura. He was a founder member of the band Galliano and co-wrote and produced 4 albums, 2 of which went silver in the UK, as well as touring worldwide from 1990-1997. He has performed and recorded with artists as diverse as Soul II Soul, Roni Size, Kylie Minogue, Brian Eno, Chaka Khan, George Duke, Jerry Dammer's Spatial AKA Orchestra, Coldplay, Dwele, Slum Village, Carleen Anderson, and numerous jazz, reggae, soul and afrobeat projects. He also holds an MPhil in Ethnomusicology from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and teaches an annual course on Afrocuban music.

This session will take place in the Royal Festival Hall between 6 and 8pm.

This session is welcoming to all, so please bring along any friends who would like to join in.

Location Royal Festival Hall Southbank Centre, Belvedere Rd, SE1 8XX London, United Kingdom
