About the Artist:

in the early years while soca was brought to Germany, Rankin Smo was a member of the so called ‘A-Team’ who have been leaded by the today called Island Refreshers. His friend Weasel was also a member of the A-Team. His career brought him to the Soca DJ as an MC for Threeks Sound (http://www.threeks.com).
Later on he was moving to study cultural science to Leipzig Germany and got into the Team of the so called “Heckert Empire” who was containing also members like Ronny Trettmann and Kid Gringo. All three forced a special german dancehall movement and were successful mostly in dancehall and reggae releases. But also two years long Ranking Smo was releasing Soca songs for the German carnival of cultures. The song “kdk” for 2009 and in 2010 the Song “Hermannplatz” were released. Second one is a combination with the Berlin Artist Boone Chatta and describes spot of where the carnival of cultures in Berlin is happening. Both songs are reproduced cover versions of very famous german pop songs. His style was beside his entertainment comedian. After musical differences Smo decided to stop in Caribbean music business and living back in Berlin with a focus on other projects.
