Watch: "Jé farin", a carnival tradition still well respected in Saint Laurent du Maroni in French Guiana!

Jé farin is a traditional character of the French Guianese carnival, The costume is composed of a headdress in the form of a long multicolored cornet sprinkled with stars. He is dressed in white and wears an apron equipped with a large ventral pocket containing flour. The costume is a local product that parodies the fairy Melusine ... "the fairy of plenty" .... It symbolizes life, joy of life, cheerfulness, Jé farin douses people with flour, most often chasing the local children who enjoy the fun of the Carnival
